DayZ server hosting

Launch DayZ, click Servers, then Direct Connect, and enter your server's address. It's at the top of your server's page in the control panel at panel.low.ms. You can also search for your server by name in the Community tab. A lot of players use the DZSA Launcher for modded servers, because it finds a server's mod list and loads it for you.

Update 1.30 and the paid Badlands expansion came out on 15 October 2026, and every DayZ server needed the update, including servers that stay on Chernarus, Livonia or Sakhal. Bohemia called 1.30 a fresh start, with a full wipe across all platforms. If your server hasn't updated yet, take a backup first, then press Update on the Overview tab of the control panel. The Nasdara mission folder is dayzOffline.nasdara and it ships with the server files, so you can type it into the Mission field on the Manage tab and the server copies it into config/mpmissions on its next start. Bohemia hasn't confirmed whether players need the Badlands DLC to join a Nasdara server, so our DayZ 1.30 and Badlands blog post tracks that.

Yes. DayZ has one of the biggest modding communities out there, with thousands of mods on the Steam Workshop: traders, expanded base building, new weapons, vehicles, helicopters, custom maps and plenty more. Workshop mods install from the Mods tab in the control panel. Your own mod folders can be uploaded to config/mods on the Files tab and listed under Uploaded Mods on the Manage tab.

Chernarus and Livonia come with the game. Livonia was made free with Update 1.25. Sakhal is a harsh northern island that needs the Frostline DLC, and Nasdara arrived with the Badlands DLC on 15 October 2026 (its mission folder is dayzOffline.nasdara). Community maps such as Namalsk, Deer Isle and Banov come from the Steam Workshop. You pick the map with the Mission field on the Manage tab.

BattlEye runs on every LOW.MS DayZ server and we'd strongly recommend leaving it that way. It works in the background to detect and ban cheaters. It also carries RCON, which is how tools like BattleMetrics or DaRT connect: switch on External RCON access on the Settings tab and use the RCON Password from the Manage tab.

DayZ uses a Central Economy system controlled mainly through the types.xml file in your mission folder, which on our servers is config/mpmissions//db/types.xml on the Files tab. You can adjust the nominal (target count), min (minimum before respawn), lifetime and spawn locations for every item in the game. It's powerful but fiddly, so our DayZ Server Configuration knowledgebase article walks through it properly.

Vanilla DayZ typically uses around 4-6 GB of RAM. Once you add big mods like DayZ Expansion, expect 8-12 GB or more. The plans on this page show what each one includes, and you can add extra RAM at checkout if you're running a heavy mod list.

Yes. Server name, password, player slots, first or third person, crosshair, time acceleration, night length and more are fields on the Manage tab of the control panel, which writes serverDZ.cfg for you on every start. A setting without a field can go under Your additions when you open serverDZ.cfg on the Files tab. Weather lives in cfgweather.xml in your mission folder.

DayZ bases persist between server restarts by default. Players need to interact with their flag pole every 5 days (this is configurable via FlagRefreshFrequency in globals.xml) to stop their base from decaying. For a full wipe, stop the server, take a backup, then delete the persistence files in the storage_1 folder inside your mission folder in config/mpmissions. Most communities run monthly wipe schedules and announce them in advance.
